Hi there, Everyone!
Greetings from East Boulder Baptist Church near Denver, Colorado! Most of you know me, but in case you don’t, I’m Barb Coffan. This June, I’ll be leading a Deaf mission trip to Uruguay, and our team is in need of three more Deaf missionaries. Just yesterday, we got the “go ahead” on this trip, so these are the details:
Volunteer Mission Trip
to Montevideo, Uruguay, South America
Working with S.B.C. International Mission Board Missionary, Mary Swanner
June 11 – 25, 2010
Total trip cost – $3,300
Mary Swanner would like our team to mentor 5 of the Deaf Christians that she serves with (several are quite young), give presentations in the Deaf schools and clubs about Deaf life in America (and then invite folks to an evangelistic service or one-on-one meeting), hold evangelistic services in the capital city of Montevideo and in the interior of the country, train Deaf Christian leaders in subjects that Mary will identify, prayer walk, perhaps lead a craft , witness to people about how the Lord has changed our lives, and share the love of Jesus with everyone we meet!
Do you know anyone who has a passion to see lost people drawn to the Savior? Our team now consists of: Bob Payne (Deaf evangelist residing in Arizona), Pat Himes (interpreter and treasurer for this trip), and myself (interpreter and team leader for many Deaf mission trips over the past 20 years). We are in need of three more Deaf people.
Each of us volunteer missionaries needs to raise our own support, to participate in this trip. Over the years, I have found that if the Lord calls an individual to go, He always supplies the money. If you are a Deaf Southern Baptist and the Lord is speaking to you about going on this mission trip, please contact me as soon as possible. If you are hearing and you know of a strong, committed Deaf Christian who loves Jesus, and is not afraid to step out in faith to share the Gospel, please forward this email to him/her. Perhaps you know of a married couple who has been wanting to go on an adventuresome mission trip. Now is the time! God’s work among the Deaf people of Uruguay is just now beginning to TAKE OFF! Mary Swanner is veeeeery excited about doors that are beginning to open!
Our team is praying for you right now as you read this email. If you are one of the 3 people that God has chosen for this trip, you won’t be able to say, “No” to Him.
Love in Christ,
Barb Coffan <><

The 2nd Annual IDYC (Impact Deaf Youth Camp) will be held on July 11-16, 2010 at Mountain Lake Ranch in Dandridge, Tennessee. The theme this year is “Walking with Jesus” Colossians 2:6.
This is a camp for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and CODA children age 8-18. All counselors are fluent in ASL (most are Deaf) and desire to be role models to our young people.
There are various activities such as crafts, sports, games, swimming, team-building, tubing and many other activities.
The camp was started last July in 2009 by three pastors of deaf churches in Georgia and Virginia. They are: Mason Fenner of the Deaf Baptist Fellowship in Rome, Georgia; Bud Richardson of the Rowland Springs Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia and Samuel Woods of the Grace Baptist Church for the Deaf in Bristol, Virginia. These pastors and their churches had a desire to make an impact on the deaf youth in the Southeastern states. Thus a small camp in Danbridge, TN was established.
Yes, we have a registered nurse at the camp for minor emergencies. All serious emergencies will be transported to hospital less than 20 minutes from the camp.
Yes, we have lifeguards who are present to watch the swimming and canoeing activities.
The majority of our counselors are Deaf adults who have leadership roles in our churches. They are great role models to the campers. They play a major role in the success of the camp. We have a ratio of one counselor per three campers. Teams are divided up into groups with three counselors per dorm.
Mail in $145.00 registration by June 27th and save $5.00 on camp fee.
Make check payable and send it with the registration form to:
Registrar
Impact Deaf Youth Camp
112 Lombardy Way SE
Rome, GA 30161
Registration will be from 6:00-7:00 pm on Sunday evening, July 11. Campers may be picked up on Friday, July 16 at 11:00 am.
For more information, registration forms and/or brochures, contact one of these:
Please join us for our 2nd annual Impact Deaf Youth camp. This will be our second year at Mountain Lake Ranch. It is a nice campground, and you will have the best week of camp ever.
We hope you will make plans to be with us this year at Impact Deaf Youth Camp.
We also have the volunteer opportunities at the camp. If you are interested to volunteer, please contact me.
If you are interested in becoming the counselor, we will provide the counselor training on Saturday, April 17th from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Woodstock in Woodstock, GA. Just let me know if you are interested or want to talk about other volunteer opportunities. I happen to have some brochures and registration forms so contact me if you need them.
Please feel free to forward this wonderful message to your deaf community and your friends!!!
See you at the camp!
